The next giant leap for mankind
Welcome back to another episode of The Get More Success Show.
I am here today talking with a future space and possibly time traveller! It is indeed very exciting to introduce Dianne McGrath.
Dianne is one of 100 people in a group who will become an astronaut taking part in the Mars One project. She hopes to be one of only 24 chosen crew-members who will travel to and then live on Mars.
Initially applying in 2013, the final stages of crew selection will draw to a close for Dianne later this year. The first human flights are scheduled for 2031.
With her amazing background, and potentially remarkable future, we learn how it is the persistent element of striving for success – the excitement of the challenge to persevere and share the journey with others – that drives Dianne to succeed.
Deeply involved in her current PhD research, Dianne is using her Environmental Engineering skills to explore ways and means of reducing world-wide waste, managing it and converting it into a sustainable resource.
Waste must not exist on Mars. The Outer Space Treaty actually bans space pioneers from damaging other planets. So, finding solutions and ecological diversity – everything needs to be recycled – is essential on Earth, but it becomes imperative on Mars.
Dianne’s story of the next leap forward for space travel, namely establishing a new outpost for humanity in the solar system and achieving something exceptional in this sphere is as mind-opening as it is inspirational.
