Looking forward … Looking back …
Although we see change all around us, we aren’t yet fully aware of the future impact that increasing computerisation and automation will have on the workforce. By looking at what is important to us today and investigating the potential elements of change needed we can successfully plan for the future, according to today’s guest, Paul Tero.
Having a good life, or as Paul refers to it “Eudaimonia” or being content, is Paul’s measure of his own success. He agrees, too, that sometimes it is the artisans of the past who create the ideas for the future.
Being curious by nature, learning how things work and exploring the impact that they have on a broader scale leads Paul to continue his own learning pathways. He encourages us to plan for the future and advises that if we don’t accept that change, in some form or another, is inevitable – then chances are the future may not work out all that well! He emphasizes the importance of keeping an open minded way of thinking and doing things. Paul reminds us of the adage to work on your business as well as working in your business and in doing so consider the impact of ‘what ifs’ on your business.
